Father’s Day 2016 was one of the scariest days of my life. Around 6pm I noticed my son not moving at all. I was 35 weeks pregnant and immediately started to freak out. I then tried all of the tricks recommended by doctors (orange juice, ice water, laying on your side, etc.) but after waiting 30 minutes I still felt nothing. My heart sank into my stomach and I immediately started crying. My husband said we were going to the hospital. After my son failed a biophysical profile (ultrasound) we were told he was being delivered that night. He was born at 12:30am on June 20th and was perfect. His medical needs then spiraled out of control and we later found out that he had had an in utero stroke and if we had not gone to the hospital then my son would have died. I felt silly going in at the time because I was always told they move less because they are growing but that is not true! They do not move less the movements are different. Never feel silly or ashamed for going in or calling your OB if you are worried because it could save your baby’s life!
