I was 29 weeks and 4 days pregnant when I went to be checked. I had noticed over the last 24 hours ‘baby’ (we didn’t know what she was yet) was slowly starting to get weaker and her movements had slowed. I had remembered my doctor telling me at least ten kicks per hour. I tried drinking cold water, apple juice, I was doing everything I could think of to try to get her more active.

After two hours of trying I decided it was time to call my OB/GYN’s office and tell them what was going on, I was advised to go straight to L&D. Baby and I were being monitored, they did an ultrasound to confirm she hadn’t been moving. While in the hospital I started going into preterm labor, that’s when things really started moving fast. By Sunday night I was on complete bed rest I was NPO, steroid shots were given by 6 pm.

Karli was here at 11:59 a.m. June, 9th 2014. She weighed in at a whopping 2 lbs 1 oz and was 14 inches long. Karli’s placenta was half black and quickly killing her. Had I waited any longer to count her kicks and go get help she wouldn’t be here today. Karli is 4 years old now and has no sign of ever being premature! She loves both her sisters, her kitties and of course her mom and dad. I couldn’t imagine my life without Karli in it.
